When should you use an escort? -
• When the procession consists of six cars or more
• When the safety of the procession depends on knowledgeable traffic control
• When the comfort of the family is increased by eliminating the worry of the procession process
• When the procession requires freeway, long distance or travel in unfamiliar areas
Preparing for the Procession
While most cities have ordinances making it illegal to enter or leave a procession, cars in a procession do not have any legal right of way. Certified Escorts provide necessary traffic control and are authorized to stop traffic from entering or leaving a procession, as well as maintain traffic flow by use of controlled intersections.
We know city and state ordinances and are there to enforce them. For the safety of the coach driver, procession members and escorts the following rules apply:
• All vehicles in the procession must bear a sticker that indicates they are participants!
• Headlights and flashers should be on for the entire procession!
• Vehicles must not leave the procession for any reason and should advise the escort if an emergency occurs!
• Procession vehicles should space themselves as close together as safely possible to prevent non-participating vehicles from entering or crossing
